Chinese Logical Fallacy
I’ve decided the Chinese are living a logical fallacy. Yes, we know that everything that tastes or feels good is bad for you. But it does not follow that that which makes you uncomfortable is to your benefit. Yet they persist in swimming in winter waters, sleeping on wood planks, leaving every window and door open even on the coldest days, and taking Chinese medicine, which must be helpful since it tastes so godawful. And they say they do it all because it’s good for your body!
it’s a ubiquitous belief in China that hard wood bed is good for your health. swimming in winter is another thing I believed was good for your health before I came to the U.S. but I still don’t know if it’s true or not.
Eer.. not all Chinese live like that. Can’t imagine doing any of those things.
a Neitzsche sort of thing?
I at first found the wood plank beds to be absurd, then later started using em (with a blanket or two’s amount of padding) and could no longer stand sleeping on a soft bed (hurt my back), now years later it appears I can sleep on some soft beds of decent quality….
