Chinese Mixup
Goofed up my Chinese, ordering dim sum in Hong Kong. The character for melon is 瓜, and the one for claw is 爪. Pretty similar, you gotta admit. Close enough that I thought I was ordering some kind of gourd, but ended up with a bunch of chicken fingers, and not the kind you order for the kid at your table at a family restaurant.
Those characters are very similar. I can see how you got confused. LOL
Cartilage vs quasi “real,” over-processed, transFat loaded junkola? At least those feet aren’t pretending to be anything other than what they simply are…
So, did you eat them or return them for what you really wanted?
I could hardly return them, as they gave me exactly what I asked for. I tried to eat them; I really did. My main objection to chicken feet (and chicken wings too, for that matter) is that they require too much effort for the miserly amount of meat they have. But at least the wings are usually well cooked with a yummy sauce. These digits, however, were simply boiled, and I just couldn’t get through the skin. I’m sorry. Does this make me less Asian?
What makes you “non-Occidental” is the essence of why you’re traipsing about in the first place. Kudos dude, for gnawing on those naked, nubby feet…
hahaha~The last dot of 瓜 seems like the fruit of a plant right?
I never thought those two charactors are similar each other. Pretty intersting. I am sorry you had to deal with those chicken feet.. I eat them a little, but not many!
